June 12, 2025- something unthinkable occurred. A routine flight—a trip like thousands that fly each day—became a disaster that shook the very hearts of a nation. Air India Flight AI‑171, which had hardly taken off from Ahmedabad, crashed seconds later into the grounds of B.J. Medical College, killing everyone on board, as well as a number of brilliant young medical students who were on the ground.

This isn’t a story about a plane crash. This is about individuals. About hope, smiles, text messages, and lives that were cut short.

Air India AI-171 Passengers: Lives in Motion

Each person on that flight had a story—some were going home, others starting new chapters.

Roshni Rajendra Songhare, a travel influencer known for her calming and beautiful posts, had just wrapped up a joyful trip through India. She boarded the flight with a smile and her phone full of memories. Her last story showed the aircraft window with the caption: “Time to head back with a full heart.” That story is now frozen in time.

There was a young man, Nikhil Sinha, 23, who had never flown before. He had recently landed his first job in the UK. He sent his mother a selfie from the airport, grinning with pride, texting, “I’m finally doing it, Ma.” He never got to show her the new life he was building.

Jamie and Fiongal Greenlaw‑Meek, a couple from the UK, were flying home after what they called a “magical journey” through India. In a video shared just an hour before the crash, they sat on the steps of a temple in Rajasthan, smiling and relaxed. They were calm. At peace. And now, their peace is ours to remember.

There was a beautiful family of five, Pratik Joshi, his wife Dr. Komi Vyas and three children, who were going to start a new life abroad, they had shared their picture though social media, never knew that it was going to be their final destination.

Arjun, who came to India for fulfilling the last wish of his beloved wife. He came to immerse his wife’s ashes, who died in London just a week ago. He never knew that, he wont be able to his two daughter’s faces again.

There was a newly wed bride, who was heading to London to meet her husband, but her dream of beginning a new life turned into the burns and ashes.

Vijay Rupani, former CM of Gujarat, was also among the passengers, and he never reached his destination. He considered 1206 as his lucky number but it turned out to be his date of death 12.06.

The Students on the Ground: Bright Futures Stolen

But the tragedy did not end in the air.

The aircraft crashed into the hostel building of B.J. Medical College, where dozens of young students resided—working late into the night, living on coffee, hope, and dreams.

Although the total number of causalities are not clear yet. But many student were having their lunch in the hostel mess. Many were intern because of which they has to stay awake at night and was sleeping when the accident took place.

The future doctors who were going to serve the people are now no more. May be some of them were the only child of their parents. Life would be that unpredictable no one knew.

The Pain Left Behind

What stings the most is that it all seemed so normal. A boarding pass. A nap. A call home. A lunch lovingly prepared by a mother. These weren’t war soldiers or those living wild and free. They were simply. living. They were doing all the things we all do and had no clue it would be their last.

The families—some in London, some in Bihar, some in Gujarat—stood eagerly with welcome signs and hot meals. What they received instead were unreturned calls and televised terror.

We Must Remember

Let this be more than a passing headline. Let these names echo not as numbers, but as souls who mattered. People with dreams, kindness, laughter, and futures.

Let the government ensure that aviation safety is not a checkbox but a commitment. Let Air India answer for what failed—not just technically, but morally.

But above all, let us keep their stories alive. Because in remembering them, we resist forgetting that every life lost had a purpose still left to fulfill.

Final Words

To the ones who boarded the flight and never got to land… To the students who stayed in to study and never woke up… You were loved.
You are remembered.
You will not be forgotten.

May their soul rest in peace.
