A horribly disturbing case has emerged out of Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, where the minor girl was allegedly gang-raped inside Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, one of the biggest in the state. Adding to the seriousness of the case, the minor victim reportedly has gone missing since the alleged assault.

The incident has been assumed to have taken place in the later part of June 8th or in the early morning of June 9th, at the ENT department of the hospital. The injured victim was a minor who had accompanied her mother to the hospital from the Sidhi district. The criminals are said to have abandoned the traumatized girl on a stretcher after bringing her back to the hospital following the alleged atrocious crime.

CCTV records, which have gone viral and are believed to be of the victim, show people carrying a girl on a stretcher, apparently after the accident and when she was readmitted to hospital. The girl’s whereabouts have not, however, produced any credible information since then, which is a cause of serious concern.

At the beginning, no one of the victim or her family members officially reported the case to the police. There are claims that the hospital administration tried to cover up the issue for quite some time. It was only when the media personnel highlighted the case that the hospital authorities finally notified law enforcement agencies.

The incident’s sensitivity is amplified by Rewa being the constituency of Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister Rajendra Shukla, contributing to a noticeable hesitance among local officials to comment openly.

Superintendent of Police Vivek Singh has appealed to the public in the meantime, calling on the victim or anyone who may have information regarding her to come forward to help the police investigate and bring about justice. “We have not received any complaint or statement in writing from the victim or her family as yet,” SP Singh said, highlighting the efforts of the police in tracing her and arresting the perpetrators.

Rewa Collector Pratibha Pal confirmed that the hospital authorities telephoned them and informed them of an incident on the night of June 8-9. She assured that police are investigating the case and necessary action will be taken.

Sanjay Gandhi Hospital Superintendent Rahul Mishra conceded having received complaints of a girl being sexually abused by two persons and then admitted. But he also conceded that “information also came that she was not found on her bed,” which led to the police being immediately informed because of the sensitive nature of the case. Mr. Mishra affirmatively stated the victim’s mother was a patient and the girl was a caretaker. In addition, a show-cause notice has been served to Dr. Saurabh Goyal for a reported “6-7 hours” lag in reporting the case.

Two ward boys and a security guard have been arrested for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation for involvement in the said offense. The details of the offense, such as the names of the offenders and the location of the offense within the hospital, are currently under investigation by the police.
