UP Man Marries Son’s Bride-to-be, Assaults Wife and Son for Opposing the Relationship
In a horrifying case from Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, a man, Shakeel, has been accused of marrying his son’s bride-to-be after developing a romance with her, and brutally attacking his wife and adolescent son when they objected to the relationship.
The horrific incident has left the community in shock and ignited widespread debate on social media. Shakeel’s wife, Shabana, broke the horrific series of events in a media statement.
Suspicion Turns Into Reality
Shabana, married to Shakeel for years and who has six children with him, explained that she had started to suspect something was amiss when her husband had been visiting the residence of the woman whom he had chosen their 15-year-old son to marry.
At first, Shakeel’s relation with the girl was thought to be formal as he was fixing her marriage to his son. But gradually, Shabana observed a change in Shakeel’s behavior. Shakeel would make video calls to the woman during the day, even in front of the relatives, she said.
“Initially, nobody believed me. But I caught him twice with her,” Shabana said. “Later on, my son and I thought we would bring evidence of their relationship to confront him.”
Son Refuses to Marry After Learning the Truth
After finding the scandalous relationship between his father and his prospective bride, Shakeel’s teenage son did not proceed with the wedding. He even conveyed shock along with betrayal and said that it was not only that his father fell in love with his fiancée, but he physically assaulted him as well as his mother when they resisted the affair.
More shocking, the son accused Shakeel’s own parents of knowing about the affair and condoning it. With their permission, Shakeel proceeded to marry the young woman originally intended for his son.
Elopement and Theft Allegations
The drama took a further turn when Shakeel reportedly walked out of the family house, carrying Rs 2 lakh in cash and approximately 17 grams of gold, before eloping with the woman in secret. This has brought a criminal turn to the family drama, with Shabana complaining of domestic violence and theft against her husband.
The authorities have not yet ratified the legality of the marriage or taken official action, but the incident has sparked public outrage because of the ethical and legal issues regarding the age and consent of the parties involved.
A Similar Incident in April Raises Eyebrows

.Interestingly enough, a similar case had been reported recently in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, just a few months ago. There, a young lady by the name of Shivani reported that her own mother had eloped with her fiancé, appropriating both the groom and family jewelry just days from the wedding day.
Shivani claimed that she was to wed Rahul on April 16, but he and her mother, went missing on April 6. She claimed that the two had been exchanging secret messages for months and hatched the conspiracy together.
Her mother allegedly took more than Rs 3.5 lakh in cash and jewelry valued at Rs 5 lakh and left her daughter humiliated and broken.
Conclusion
Both of these incidents, though unrelated, indicate a disturbing pattern of familial betrayal and blurring of relationship boundaries. Not only do they reveal profound moral and ethical violations but legal issues as well regarding age, consent, and domestic violence.
Officialdom is being called upon to act with immediate and severe action against those who are abusing family relationships and trust for selfish purposes, particularly when vulnerable people and children are concerned.
